Saturday April 16, 2011 – Pouchkine Museum – Moscow
There’s always been a close path between Dior and the art world since the New Look era. From April 28 to July 21 at the Pouchkine Moscow Museum, Dior will be exposing the parallels between Dior Haute Couture dresses and famous art paints. Here is a preview of some of the dresses and art paints.
For the occasion Dior has transformed Moscow’s Pushkin Museum for “Inspiration Dior”. Luxurious ballgowns from the five designers that comprise the house’s 64-year history stand beside paintings. The first photo shows “Cape Signe d’eau” from the Dior Haute Couture Fur Fall Winter 1987 – 1988next to “La Prose du Transsiberien et de la petite Jehanne de France” 1913, by Blaise Cendrars and Sonia Delaunay, Collection Particuliere, Paris.
The exhibit features creations by John Galliano for Dior such as in the second photo, “Robe Angie”from the Dior Haute Couture Fall Winter 2000 – 2001 Collection which was inspired by “Marie-Antoinette de Habsbourg-Lorraine, archiduchesse d’Autriche, reine de France” by Elisabeth-Louise Vigee le Brun, Chateaux de Versailles et de Trianon.
The third photo shows another creation by John Galliano for Dior, “La robe Madeleine” fron the Dior Haute Couture Fall Winter 2005 – 2006 Collection inspired by “Portrait de Madame Charles Max” 1896, by Giovanni Boldini, Musee D’Orsay, Paris.
The last photo shows “Longue robe Eden” from the Dior Haute Couture Spring Summer 1992 Collection next to “Italian Landscape” by Marc Quin, Courtesy of the artist and white Cube Gallery, London.
“It’s a big moment for the brand,” said Sidney Toledano at the press preview of the Moscow exhibit. “It’s a big moment to feel and see the masterpieces together with those artists who inspired Mr. Dior and other designers.”
